Frequently Asked Questions

What grades do you offer?

MCS is now accepting applications for kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students for the 2021-2022 school year. Our long-range vision is that, by the grace and will of God, we may grow into an accredited K through 12th grade Christian academy.

Does the calendar match with public schools?

Yes. Our school corresponds to the Louisa County Public School calendar.

What time does school begin and end?

Class hours are from 8:00-2:45. Students may be dropped off at 7:45.  We ask that students are picked up by 3:00.

Does MCS meet the Virginia SOLs?

MCS meets the Standards of Learning set out by the state, and allows students to experiment with coding, technology, and engineering.

How much does it cost?

Tuition for the 2020-2021 school year is

Kindergarten – $3,500

Grammar School (Elementary) Grades – $4,000

Tuition may be paid over 10 months (10% each month) or in lump sums.  10% (or one monthly payment) is due as a down payment upon acceptance.  Monthly payments are due at the beginning of the month.

What do you do for recess and PE?

Our students have 20 minutes of recess and 25 minutes PE every day! Recess is independent play, while PE is structured. We are blessed to have access to the Mineral Baptist Church gym, playground, and soccer fields.  If the weather does not permit us to be outside, we have space indoors to make sure the children have opportunities to be physically active.

What about lunch?

Students are to bring a lunch which they can independently open and eat.  Students need to also bring a small item for snack time.  We do not have access to a refrigerator or microwave.  Students should bring a water-bottle on Monday to be refilled throughout the week.

What are Fabulous Fridays?

Each Fabulous Friday is different.  Usually the mornings hold the same routine as other days.  In the afternoon, the school joins together to perform experiments, make messy art projects, cook, or code our robot.

Do you require parents to volunteer?

We do not require parents to volunteer, but we have many opportunities for parents (and grandparents!)  to get involved behind the scenes or at one of our events.
